I created this animation in our current political climate to highlight Anaïs Mitchell's "Why We Build the Wall" as a political statement against the wall on the US-Mexico border.
The typography was set to reflect inspiration from early 20th-century propaganda posters from the US, USSR, Germany, and Great Britain. The backgrounds are created from a collage of photos of stormy skies that have been manipulated in Photoshop to look like they were painted with watercolor. Though propaganda posters often are designed with a more positive spin, I wanted to make sure that my stance was not misconstrued to instead show support for the wall. The stack of words (bricks) needed to feel ominous.
